Experience
I'm a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University. I earned a BA in History in 2011. My school experience was one rich with collaboration. As students, we worked together extensively, which really taught me the importance of dialogue and openness to discussion. These values have been reinforced in my work since then, as a remedial English tutor at Housatonic Community College, and in my work with teenage and young adult students on the autism spectrum. With students experiencing autism, my goal was to help them improve their social skills and develop their ability to think critically. Again I learned the importance of dialog and discussion with these students, as I found that the more actively engaged a student was, the greater and more rapid their improvement. History is a favorite subject of mine, and I find that engaging in open and thorough discussion about the figures involved, about the places, the common themes, and conflicts really helps to build interest in the area of study. On my own time I'm an avid reader, an administrator on Wikipedia (I spend a lot of time editing pages on the site), and I love to play the electric bass. I'm also a fan of UConn basketball.
