Experience
My first student was my sister, she is eleven years younger than I am. My mother was a teacher for almost 40 years until her retirement just a couple of years ago. When my sister was diagnosed with a minor learning disability we had what started as "study sessions". When I got a little older, I was her tutor and I loved watching her excitement with every new thing that she learned. I was hooked. From there I did some tutoring, mostly family friends or siblings of some of my mother's students. I am currently enrolled at Western Governors University to obtain my degree in education. Since last attending college back in the early 2000's I have been working full time in business. I just recently came to a cross roads and decided to change the course of my professional path and follow my passion, working with children. Just knowing that you have helped in some small way to help a student achieve his or her goals is a great feeling. While I was in school, I was always a good student. I took AP courses all through high school and was on the Dean's List multiple times. I enjoyed school and my extracurricular activities. I also took part in a student tutoring program where we did one on one tutoring with some younger schoolmates as well as tutoring groups.

Hobbies
My hobbies and interests include sports, drawing, music, reading, enjoying the outdoors, and of course being with my family. I played basketball for as long as I can remember and would have played in college if not for a shoulder injury that ended my career. Aside from playing I also coached basketball on and off since I was in high school. I would love to be coaching again, maybe someday. I also love to draw when I have the time. I read all the time, both for myself and also to my children. I really enjoy listening to music and I played the piano when I was younger for nearly 10 years. I attempted the guitar, but it definitely did not come as natural. I am a big fan of being outdoors with my family. I like to have fun and make everything enjoyable. I find that if something is looked as a chore, that is exactly what it will become. I like to think I am a very positive person.
